Academic Inheritance

The discipline of Sociology at Renmin University of China has an illustrious historical heritage and a distinctive academic style. The predecessor of Renmin University of China was Shanbei Public School（1937）, and the Department of Sociology was the first among the five departments established since then. During years of development, our institute inherited the fine tradition of Shanbei Public School and attracted famous sociologists such as Jinghan Li to work here after the establishment of the Republic of China. During the period of reform and opening-up, renowned sociologists such as Hangsheng Zheng and Cangping Wu laid a solid foundation for the development of Sociology at Renmin University of China.
