The School of Social Research offers academic master degree in Sociology, Anthropology and Folklore.And it also have two professional master's degrees:Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Social Policy (MSP).

Sociology

The School of Social Research in Renmin University of Chinahas taken an important place in the education and research of sociology in China,and have played a significant role in developing independent knowledge system of Chinese sociology. It has a integrated range of disciplines, a professional faculty and a well-equipped training system. The normal study period of this programme is 2 years.

Anthropology

Anthropology is a discipline that promotes understanding of human nature, culture, and society based on fieldwork. The Institute of Anthropology, established in 2003, offers professional training of academic master's and doctoral students. After nearly 20 years of development, it has accumulated rich research results and teaching experience, and has developed into one of the important anthropological research and teaching institutions in China.

Folklore

The School of Social Research was permitted to establish master’s degree programme of Folklore in 2003.Folklore is a discipline that studies customs, oral literature, traditional skills, life culture and thinking mode to clarify the meaning of these folk phenomena within time and space,and it has an interdisciplinary nature.The normal study period of this programme is 2 years.

Master of Social Work(MSW)

Social work is a practice-based major, and the core of professional training is to shape the values of "fairness and justice, human-oriented, helping others to help themselves", and to cultivate high-level applied talents. This program of RUC is a national first-class undergraduate program. After long-term construction and development, it has formed four advantages: social policy and social governance, gerontological Social Work, children and family social work, medical social work.

Master of Social Policy (MSP)

MSP trains senior professionals who study, formulate and implement social policies. This  program will focus on the main issues in domestic social construction, and systematically train students from theory, method and practice levels.In this program, students will have

a comprehensive understanding of theoretical knowledge,master the methods of social policy analysis,and truly gain practical ability of social governance.
