"Social Construction and Social Work in the New Era" Forum and Inauguration of the School of Social Research at Renmin University of China
On May 24, Renmin University of China hosted the "Social Construction and Social Work in the New Era" forum, alongside the inauguration of its new School of Social Research. The event aimed to foster the development of social work and social construction while pursuing first-class education and disciplines.

Gong Weibin, Vice President of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee
Li Peilin, former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS)
Li Youmei, Professor at Shanghai University
Wang Sibin, Professor at Peking University
Ma Guoqing, former Vice President of Minzu University of China
Zhou Xiaohong, Senior Professor at Nanjing University
Feng Shizheng, Vice President of Renmin University and Dean of the School of Social Research, presided over the ceremony.
The School of Social Research, renamed from the School of Sociology and Population Studies, now includes departments in Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, and Social Policy. To support social development, the university also established the Academy of Social Work and Development.
Zhao Shitang, Zhang Donggang (Secretary of the Party Committee of RUC), and other distinguished guests inaugurated the new school and academy. Additionally, a ceremony was held to launch the new Department of Social Policy.
Zhang Donggang emphasized the importance of social construction for improving livelihoods and aligning with socialist modernization. Li Peilin noted the school's renaming as a reflection of General Secretary Xi Jinping's vision for social work. Gong Weibin encouraged the school to contribute to China’s modernization and the development of an independent sociological knowledge system.
Following the opening ceremony, Wang Sibin, Li Youmei, Ma Guoqing, and Guan Xinping gave speeches on social governance, modernization, anthropology, and social policy. In the afternoon, six sub-forums addressed topics such as textbook development, autonomous knowledge systems in sociology, and Chinese social surveys.
