SSR is actively exploring possibilities of reformation to upgrade our talent training system. Specifically, we incorporated fieldwork into the traditional mode of talent training system, which facilitates the cultivation of knowledge via the iterative mode of learning in classroom and in the field. Furthermore, we not only provide opportunities for students to conduct fieldwork in China, but also overseas. Our Overseas Field Research Scholarship (OFRS) aims to sponsor students majoring in Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, Demography, Gerontology, and Folklore to conduct research and gain practical experience abroad. The vision of OFRS is to deepen students’ understanding of the diversity of civilizations, provide them with a broader knowledge of societies outside of China, and equip them with practical skills for conducting research in an international social setting. Our mode of talent training by combining classroom teaching with fieldwork has received recognition and appreciation nationwide.
