International renowned mathematician Shing-Tung Yau visited Renmin University of China.

On the afternoon of June 1st, Shing-Tung Yau, an internationally renowned mathematician and Tsinghua University professor, visited Renmin University of China at the invitation of the School of Sociology and Population Studies. Under the theme of "Geometry in Life, Life in Geometry," he engaged in a dialogue with faculty and students, discussing his mathematical career. Four scholars were invited to join the round-table forum and engage in conversation with Mr. Yau from different disciplinary perspectives, exploring the multifaceted charm of his autobiography "The Shape of a Life: One Mathematician's Search for the Universe's Hidden Geometry".Over 200 faculty members and students from different universities participated in the communication.

Professor Feng Shizheng's course "Introduction to Sociology" Has Been Recognized as One of the National First-Class Undergraduate Courses.

On November 25, 2020, the Ministry of Education published a notice on its official website titled "Notice of the Ministry of Education on Announcing the Results of the First Batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Courses." A total of 5,118 courses were recognized as the first batch of national top-level undergraduate courses, including 1,875 online top-level courses, 728 virtual simulation experimental teaching top-level courses, 1,463 offline top-level courses, 868 hybrid online and offline top-level courses, and 184 top-level courses for social practices. Professor Feng Shizheng’s course “Introduction to Sociology” was recognized as one of the National First--Class Undergraduate Course. Professor Huang Jialiang, Guo Xinghua, Huan Pingqing, and Zhu Bin from the Department of Sociology served as the main members of the course teaching team.
